We have previously discussed the dangers that are associated with the Yaz and Yasmin birth control pills. Women have experienced a number of negative effects after using these products and the labels on the pills were shown to be inaccurate and misleading. It is very important to be sure that all birth control pills distributed in New Jersey are safe and effective for women. However, another medication error has been discovered in a different brand of birth control pills, which may diminish the confidence people have in these products.

Pfizer Inc. is the maker of another birth control pill called Lo/Ovral-28. There are two generic versions of the pill, known as Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. One million of these packets have been recalled after a manufacturing error was discovered.

The company released a statement specifying the error. In every pack of these birth control pills, there are rows of pills containing the active ingredient in the pills. One row of the pills should contain only placebos, though, which is only to be taken at the beginning of a menstrual cycle. The company says that these placebo pills were placed in the wrong row, replacing active pills. When taken in the wrong order, the pills may not properly protect a woman from becoming pregnant.

According to some reports, users of the faulty product may have experienced health problems or unplanned pregnancies as a result of the manufacturer's error.

It can be quite a shock for women who are actively working to prevent pregnancy to suddenly discover they may be pregnant. Because of the health risks already associated with pill like Yaz and Yasmin, this latest recall may shake the confidence that some women have in the birth control method. Women who have been affected by these drugs in a negative way may want to seek compensation for any damages they have suffered.
